We know that there is nothing quite like a holiday to recharge your batteries and, just because you need regular care, doesn’t mean you should have to go without a break.
Our holiday care service supports individuals who find it difficult to go on holiday due to the level of care and support that they require whilst away from home, often resulting in them not getting the break they need.
Abbey Care is in the picturesque village of Scorton in North Yorkshire, 5 miles for the historical town of Richmond and the edge of the world famous Yorkshire Dales National Park. Slightly future afield is the beautiful Yorkshire Coast and North Yorks Moor, with the famous resorts of Whitby and Scarborough and the City of York.
Scorton has two pubs, Café, shop and Post Office, with regular bus services.
The area is renowned for walking and a place to relax and recharge the batteries.
Abbey Care Village Scorton, is a complex set in seven acres, with private gardens and abundance of space.
Gwendolyn House offers highest quality of accommodation, with individual apartments finished to high standards, each apartment bedroom, ensuite facilities, living room, and kitchenette.
Peer support is available through communal lounges and kitchens
The Abbey Care team consists of highly trained and dedicated team, all of which are at your disposal, these include:

• Laundry Staff
- Carer Training such as manual handling, effective communication, managing challenging behaviour.
- Abbey Care Village also includes Nursing, Residential and Supported Living, therefore we can offer care and support for your loved owns in the village whilst you have a break. Therefore you are free from the worries of leaving a loved one if that is helpful.
- Full cooked breakfast, served in the restaurant or in your apartment.
Finances & Costs
The cost for our Respite accommodation is £50 per day, with no maximum or minimum stay, cost includes breakfast.
You may be eligible to receive help with funding your care from the Government. You have the right to request a free care assessment from your local Social Services department; this can include a community care assessment and a means-tested financial assessment to see if you are eligible to receive support with the cost of your care.
